Fashionable and Wellies, not words that go together much are they!
Here we are in Autumn and there is no getting away from it, the rain will come. It seems that when it comes to keeping our feet dry we have to compromise on style. Let me pose a question – What is the first thing that comes to mind when we mention Waterproof Boots! Wellingtons? Or clumpy not so fashionable outdoor wear that are more practical than stylish? The same went for me, until a lot of searching brought some different and fashionable waterproof boots.
So many of us wear the most impractical shoes in the pursuit of fashion and style. How many of us own a beautiful pair of high heels that were made for sitting in, but still wear them despite having about an hour window till ‘footgate’ kicks in.
Shoe and boot designers for a while have been breaking the clumpy, unfashionable look of wet weather footwear. Companies like Hunter, Joules and Ugg now offer more fashion-led rubber boot designs; and other companies leather waterproof shoes are making the whole concept of ‘practical’ much more desirable.
As patterned boots are a strong fashion style this autumn, let’s begin with Joules Womens Rockingham Floral Printed Chelsea Wellington Boots. Apart from the print design, the style is slender and not at all ‘welly’ like. There is a sign the water repelling boots are going to be a hit, they are selling out over the place. Snap them up fast from Joules or Country Attire for £34.95
This list wouldn’t be complete without a pair of Hunter Wellington Boots. Following the white footwear trends, check out the Women’s Original Refined Chelsea Gloss Boots in White; on trend, practical, affordable and waterproof all in one. Buy direct from Hunter for £95.
A much more fashion focused and maybe a little younger in style is the Women’s Joan™ Rain Wedge Chelsea Felt Boot. It is a great fashion welly look, and also practical for ladies who want height or just prefer a heel. Get these fab heeled wellies from Sorel £130

Have a look around the Bogs website where you can either purchase or find a local stockist.

How about waterproof leather boots with a removable fur insole. The design will work quite a few years to come so the investment of £120 is a sound one. These Women’s Panama Jack Fur Lined Waterproof Mirabella Bark Boots are available from Arthur Knight and Sarenza.
Clarks is to some a safe sensible shoe shop. No compromise on style with these funky Tri Ida GORE-TEX® dark taupe nubuck boots. Warm, waterproof, breathable and the bonus of a unique supportive sole. If these cover all your requirements find them in width D at Clarks £105.

Loving these new wellington classic style with a hint of Tommy Hilfiger. They could almost pass for a leather boot. Not a hefty investment for some Hilfigers at £74 at Tower London.
Ilse Jacobsen is renown the world over for the most beautifully designed and crafted rainwear. Very challenging to choose just one pair for the list, please take a moment to view her website. Ilse Jacobsen Wedge Rubber Boots can be bought from Walk the Storm £110, you can also find a range of her clothing and footwear at Amazon.
Here are the closest to tradition black wellington boots on this list. Not unfashionable at all, and the slender style of the ankle area makes these logo embellished Calvin Klein boots a lighter designer option. For these very fashionable waterproof boots go to Asos £80. Update that – some sizes are available at Littlewoods for £25 – Yes £25.
Colors of California
Going the complete opposite way and emphasizing the platform heel. Much more muted with a matt rubber finish. Colours of California bring a sense of fun to rainy weather footwear. Find these at Zolando £79.99.
What can I say about Lemon Jelly. They bring all the fun to the puddle party and with colourways to suit everyone personal style. The change in sole colour again marks them far away from the weather resistant footwear look. Sarenza has a good collection of Lemon Jelly. These Wing Rubber Boots are £71.90
